The Claude Moore Charitable Foundation announced March 6 it has concluded its grant cycle for 2019, awarding more than $1.6 million to Loudoun-based charities.
The foundation, which was created by the late Loudoun resident Dr. Claude Moore, has pledged or given more than $70 million in charitable grants since its creation in 1987.
“Dr. Moore spent most of his adult life in Loudoun County and was defined by his belief that education is the key, and that everyone deserved the opportunity to get a quality education,” said the foundation’s deputy executive director, K. Lynn Tadlock. “The trustees strive to fulfill his wishes by concentrating a large portion of the grant budget on educational organizations in and around the place he called his home.”
