The co-founder of the Leesburg-based music therapy program A Place to Be is embarking on an exciting new project this fall when his one-man show hits the stage Off-Broadway in New York City.
Tom Sweitzer’s 90-minute show, “20 Seconds,” portrays the roller-coaster experiences in his life, including the passing of his mother when he was a child, living with a dad who is schizophrenic and, eventually, how music “saved his life.”
He describes his childhood as intense, colorful, humorous and often abusive and the show follows his life up until the opening of A Place to Be. It is a story about resilience and forgiveness, he said.
