A Place To Be Launches Schools Field Trip Pilot Program

A Place To Be has long been using music therapy to create a sense of community and belonging for Loudoun residents. This year, its marking a new milestone in its 10-year partnership with Loudoun County Public Schools with the launch of “A Place to Be Me” play that will be performed all semester and be seen by groups of over 100 children visiting the Leesburg center once a week.

The six-week, disability-inclusive live musical was written by the nonprofit’s founder, Tom Sweitzer, and Artistic Manager Kyle Boardman in collaboration with division staff members to make sure the play aligned with the schools’ social-emotional learning curriculum. Boardman composed the music used in the play to align with the curriculum as well.
